Any public YouTube watch URL works.

  2. 02

The tool fetches the page and extracts the keywords meta tag.

  3. 03

    Use for research

Compare competitor tags against your own to find gaps.

Why this matters

YouTube hid video tags from the UI years ago but still publishes them in the page source as a meta keywords tag — extractable by anyone, used heavily for competitor research. Looking at which tags top-ranking videos in your niche use reveals semantic patterns and modifier combinations you might be missing in your own tag strategy.

This tool fetches a public video's HTML via a CORS-friendly proxy, extracts the meta keywords content, and shows each tag with copy buttons. Use it for research only — copying competitor tag sets verbatim is lazy SEO and YouTube may flag it as content imitation. Combine tag patterns from 5–10 top videos to inform your own tag strategy with the YouTube Tag Generator.

FAQ

YouTube removed tags from the visible video page in 2020 to discourage casual tag-stuffing, but the data is still rendered into the page source as a <meta name="keywords"> tag for legacy SEO reasons. The UI is private; the source code is not. Anyone viewing the raw HTML — or running this tool — can read it.
