SOUNDLAB New Music Podcasts, In-depth Interviews with international contemporary music artists
59:49, 17 May 2018, Interviewer and editor, Paul Steenhuisen
This sonically illustrated interview in which Steenhuisen questions Reynolds was released on 17 May 2018, in relation to a concert on Toronto’s New Music Concert series that featured Reynolds’s work. It included the premiere of his quintet for flute and string quartet, co-commissioned by New Music Concerts and LAMP (the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance) on Nova Scotia. The piece arose out of discussions between Reynolds and Canadian flutist, composer, and conductor, Robert Aitken, and was informed by the extinction, in the 1970s, of the Hawaiian bird, the ‘O’o. It is dedicated, admiringly, to Bob Aitken.
